AI tools

Connect your AI tool to BroadWorks.

Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and Gemini all connect the same way. Add one address, sign in, and start asking.

Your Dialplane address

https://<your-tenant>.mcp.dialplane.com/broadworks

Find your exact address under Settings once you sign in. Or use https://mcp.dialplane.com/broadworks and enter your Dialplane tenant name at sign-in.

Three steps

Same setup in every tool.

Create an API key
  1. Step 1

    Sign in

    Use your own BroadWorks login, or an API key for tools that need one.

  2. Step 2

    Add one address

    Paste your Dialplane address into your AI tool. Every tool uses the same one.

  3. Step 3

    Start asking

    Ask about phones, users and groups. The tool reads changes back so you see they worked.

Setup by tool

Pick your tool and follow four steps.

Your AI tool runs the chat. Dialplane checks every request against what your login is allowed to do.

Custom connector

Claude

Apps, connectors, API

ChatGPT / OpenAI

Add Dialplane as an app or connector in ChatGPT, or call it from the OpenAI API.

  1. 1Create an app or connector with your Dialplane address.
  2. 2Use sign-in so each person works as their own BroadWorks login.
  3. 3Allow only the tools the assistant needs.
  4. 4Ask for confirmation before any change.
{
  "type": "mcp",
  "server_label": "dialplane",
  "server_url": "https://<your-tenant>.mcp.dialplane.com/broadworks"
}

VS Code or Copilot CLI

GitHub Copilot

Add Dialplane to Copilot in VS Code or the Copilot CLI.

  1. 1Add Dialplane to your MCP server settings.
  2. 2Choose the HTTP type.
  3. 3Add your Dialplane API key.
  4. 4Ask Copilot to use Dialplane for BroadWorks work.
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "dialplane": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://<your-tenant>.mcp.dialplane.com/broadworks",
      "headers": { "X-API-Key": "bwb_sk_..." }
    }
  }
}

Gemini CLI

Gemini

Add Dialplane to the Gemini CLI.

  1. 1Add an HTTP server named dialplane.
  2. 2Add your Dialplane API key as a header.
  3. 3Check the connection with the MCP status command.
  4. 4Keep confirmations on for changes.
gemini mcp add --transport http \
  --header "X-API-Key: bwb_sk_..." \
  dialplane https://<your-tenant>.mcp.dialplane.com/broadworks

Safe by default

Give AI tools a job, not the keys to the switch.

  • Your AI tool only reaches what your BroadWorks login can reach.
  • Start read-only and allow changes when you are ready.
  • Nothing can delete a group, service provider or reseller.

Questions

The short answers.

Does the AI tool see our BroadWorks password?

Not when you connect through our sign-in page. With an API key, the tool sends the login itself, so it passes through the tool.

Can the AI tool make changes?

Only what your login and your access settings allow. A read-only setup can look but not change anything.

Can we use our own chatbot?

Yes. Any tool that supports remote MCP servers connects the same way, and the same rules apply.

Can we put our own brand on it?

Yes. Your own AI support layer can sit in front, with Dialplane doing the BroadWorks work.
